Participants Will Learn:

  • Self-monitoring of blood glucose, importance of recording results
  • Importance of regular hemoglobin A1c testing
  • Target blood glucose range
  • Signs/Symptoms/Treatment of Hypoglycemia and Hyperglycemia
  • Development/prevention of long-term complications
  • Proper foot/skin care, hygiene, yearly eye exams, regular dental checks
  • Importance of consistent, balanced meals, carbohydrate amounts & timing
  • Portion control and meal planning strategies
  • Reading food labels accurately and food preparation
  • Medications – action/side effects; oral agents and/or insulin – proper injection technique
  • Benefits of activity/exercise on blood glucose
  • Identify a support system, coping skills and lifestyle changes

Class 1 - The Last Thursday of each month

8:30 am – 2:30 pm (Lunch Provided)

Have Fun While You Learn – Class participants will receive a gift bag

Class 2 – Second Tuesday of each month

2:30 pm – 4:00 pm

- Third Tuesday of each month
