Flu Shot Update

McKenzie Medical Center will have flu shots available starting September 9, 2009.  The CDC recommends starting the shots October 1st. Most insurances pay for only one shot per season. Some patients prefer earlier immunization and elect to get a second dose later in the year as immunity lasts only about 90 days. Flu season usually hits between December and March and it takes about 14 days to develop immunity after the injection.

The cost of the flu shot is $21.00 and no appointment is necessary.

The flu shot does not cover the H1N1 (Swine Flu) and McKenzie Medical Center plans to make this available as soon as it is delivered. It will require two injections separated by at least three weeks. For more information call 731-352-7907 or 1-800-273-3510.
