Don Vaughn in front of MMC sign

McKenzie Medical Center (MMC) proudly announces Don Vaughn’s accomplishment of completing his Family Nurse Practitioner training, graduation and board certification. He is now accepting medical patients as a Family Nurse Practitioner at McKenzie Medical Center’s main clinic in McKenzie.  He will continue to practice chiropractic and provide other specialized services at MMC.

Don commented, “At MMC we are always trying to improve our level of service to our patients and I hope that my training as a Family Nurse Practitioner in addition to my other certifications will aid in this goal. I enjoy being a part of the MMC team, as I full-heartedly believe in our commitment to providing care to patients at the level we would want for our own family members… every patient, every time.”

Don graduated from Parker College of Chiropractic in 1993 and practiced in Corpus Christi, Texas until coming to McKenzie in 2007.  Over the years he has studied extensively in the area of neurology and obtained multiple certifications in the area of applied functional neurology.  While working at MMC he has obtained a bachelor’s of nursing with licensure and has now finished a master’s level degree as a family nurse practitioner.   He is now board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in the area of family practice.

Don stated, “I chose to continue my training and become a Family Nurse Practitioner because I felt limited in what I could do with my other certifications - they didn’t give me the full extent of the ability to help my patients. I wanted to be able to treat chronic diseases of life like hypertension and diabetes as well as neck and back pain.”

While in Texas, Don was involved with numerous non-profit entities including Habitat for Humanity-Corpus Christi, March of Dimes, Coastal Bend Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, Leadership Corpus Christi, Beautify Corpus Christi, Christus-Spohn  Hospital Development Foundation,  Christian Business Men’s Committee and other worthy causes.  He has been a professional motivation and education speaker for industry, municipalities and school systems.  In 2006 he was appointed a position as Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology, Carrick Institute of Graduate Studies and is currently inactive in that position due to his ongoing educational endeavors over the past three years.

Don enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors.  He hopes to revisit some of his hobbies now that he has finished his current level of training.

“I’m unable to put into words how much my Dad & I including my brother APPRECIATE all that Cindy Argo did that I’m sure SAVED my father’s life.  We truly cannot repay you and all the hard working people who may think this is just a part of the “job” nothing special, etc., but to us it is the greatest gift every and  priceless.”
